John Scott recently joined the City of Edgewater as Economic Development Manager, bringing more than a decade of experience in economic development, business recruitment, and community growth. He earned his Master’s in Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2010 and has built a career focused on supporting existing industries, attracting new investment, and advancing strategic site development initiatives.

Prior to joining Edgewater, John served in economic development roles in both Jackson County and Brunswick, Georgia. During his time in Jackson County, he helped secure the nearly $3 billion investment from SK Battery America, one of the region’s most significant economic development projects. Most recently, John worked in Southwest Tennessee in conjunction with a joint venture between SK Battery America and Ford Motor Company.  In his new role with the City of Edgewater, John looks forward to strengthening the local business community, supporting new and existing industries, and helping position the city for continued responsible growth and opportunity.
